It cracks me up that when you go to search for Master Mixes the entire first page of search results has absolutely nothing to do with food. It is all about music, culture, and drinking mixes.Seriously. What a crazy...but accurate...picture that is.
Have we really become so accustomed to paying companies to make things for us that a search like that doesnt even come up under the first 20 entries? Ai-yi-yi. Looks like I have a lot of work ahead of me.
I posted this morning and then realized that I did not give you more cookie recipes to go with the Cookie Master Mix. I am so so sorry. Some of you have been waiting....well.....literally weeks for those extra recipes.
So here are a few of my favorites:
Cookie Cutter Cookies: 3 cups master mix, 1/2 cup butter, 1 egg, 1 tsp vanilla, and 2 Tbs heavy cream or milk. Blend everything together and then chill for atleast 2 hours. Preheat oven to 350*. Roll dough out into a half and half combination of white flour and granulated sugar. (you can also add cinnamon if you want a different taste) Cut into desired shapes. Bake for 7 minutes for soft cookies, 9 minutes for crisp ones.
Peanut Butter Cookies: 2 1/2 cups mix, 1/3 cup butter, 1/4 cup peanut butter, 1 egg, 1 tsp vanilla and sugar for rolling the balls in before flattening.Mix everything together, blended well, form into balls, flatten with a fork once on the baking sheets. Bake for 8-10 minutes at 350*.
Carrot Spice Cookies: 1/2 cup butter, 2 1/2 cups master mix, 1 egg, 1/4 tsp of the following: cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves; 1/2 cup grated carrot, 3/4 cup raisins that have sat in hot water for about 10 minutes and drained, 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts. Blend in everything but the last three ingredients for batter to really blend well, fold in the others. Drop dough onto cookie sheets, and bake for 8-10 minutes at 350*. I often add ground flax and coconut to these cookies too for a healthy cookie (if there is such a thing--ha!).
Apple Pecan Oatmeal Cookies: 1/3 cup shortening or coconut oil, 2 cups mix, 1 cup oatmeal, 2 eggs, 1/3 cup apple butter, 1 tsp cinnamon or apple pie spices, 1/2 cup chopped pecans. Blend well, drop on baking sheets and bake for 7-9 minutes in a 350* oven. Great way to use up the little bit of apple butter left in the jar. :)
I was really blessed by a friend who gave me the book that these came from for a present a couple years ago. I have collected quite a few Master Mix Recipes for cookies and such over the years, but this one has really been a blessing in our house as we use it all the time. I have looked for it everywhere so that I can post a link for you if you decide you want to purchase the whole thing, but can not find it at all. Perhaps it was just a personal master mix book that someone came up with and had published? I am not sure. If, however, in the future, I do find it, I will make sure you have the link to it. :)
Let me know which one most appeals to you! :)
Many Blessings to you and yours,
Heather
