Almost Wordless Wednesday---Goodbye to June--*sniff sniff*

Its SO sad.
June has flown by on the speedy wings of summer.

I have been so busy living life, that I had to intentionally make time to stop and see the beauty all around me as summer races on.

Have you ever had a month where it seems like no matter how hard you try time just seems to fly past you faster than you can keep up? Perhaps it is because I was down with the pneumonia or something, but I am a little sad that this is the last Wednesday in June, and next Wednesday will be in July already.
   How has your June gone?

Here are some of my favorite pictures from the last week of June here at the Welcoming House........

making cookies from the Cookie Master Mix

its more fun to play with the box than what comes in it, right?

the first blossoms on my acorn squash plant is always something to smile about!

Cherry tomatoes coming SOON! :)

Lemon Balm growing fast--one of my seed starts that I am proud of!

What to do with old lids that cant be reused? Make a wind chime to keep away the birds...

next year, we will have Rhubarb!

Cherokee Tears (black beans) are starting to send out climbing vines---love this heirloom!

Sunflowers reaching for the sky...one of my favorite flowers...

had to post this---my Handy Hubby made fajitas for my birthday dinner...

and certain small children (and BIG ones) are pretty excited about a party for Mommy!

my gorgeous birthday cake from the Handy Hubby (yes, he MADE IT)

the top of the cake--isnt he HANDY??

4 gorgeous layers of white cake and homemade buttercream frosting topped with strawberries....

finger-lickin' good...........

even my adopted son gives it two thumbs up---and he's a teenager!!!

and when the party is all done, the cake is all gone, sometimes you just gotta cry...

Kinda like how I feel about June being done.........

Hope you have a wonderful rest of the week. Be sure to check back tomorrow for our Thankful Thursday posting---its super special this week!

Many Blessings to you and yours,

Heather

  1. Blessings on Kurt! He's handy AND he cooks (and loves his children and their mother). A woman couldn't ask for more!

  2. Do wind chimes really keep away the birds? Sparrows ate all our green bean blossoms!

    1. I dont think it is just the sounds of the lids chiming together, Becky, it is the flash and movement as well when they catch the sun. It's actually funny to watch, because they will totally avoid the areas I have them strung up (and we have a LOT of birds in our yard with lots of mature trees), and hop around the parts of the garden that are not yet surrounded. Since I lost two plantings of zucchini, summer squash and cukes to the birds before hanging them up and now the third planting is doing just fine, I am thinking it works wonderfully! Put something up there that will move and flash and make any kind of noise, and it will keep the birds away. I have even known people to just string those metallic streamers that you use at parties up, and the birds stay away. :) Good luck! Hope you get some green beans still! :)
