Almost Wordy "Wordless" Wednesday---Humility Happens OFTEN around here~

bad hair day pic for me--but here is my lovely Big Kid. :)

I wish I had a quarter for every time I hear one of the following phrases:

  • How do you accomplish so much?
  • Is there anything you don't get done in a day?
  • where did you learn all this?
  • Do you ever sleep?
  • How much time to you actually spend on the computer researching that stuff?
  • You really should do a video series. (*snort* *gasp* bwahahahahahaha---dear readers, you have NO IDEA what you are asking for there. I not only don't take personal pictures well, me and a video camera do even worse. Seriously. Just ask the Hubs about the many gaffes on home holiday videos we have around here.)
  • and my all time favorite: Is there anything you DON'T DO???

Now to that last one I normally shoot off  a smart-aleky reply such as: "Well, I cant fly, so I guess that counts.". Or: "Raise pigs in city limits." Or some other such nonsense, because seriously, the reason I share what I do is because I love what I do and want others to learn to love to do it too, NOT because I want to heap praise or anything upon myself. It actually makes me really uncomfortable to hear stuff like that because everything I do is done unto the Lord, and that is just how I am. Looking for the praise from an audience of ONE---and hearing it from other places discombobulates me to no end. If you could see all the times I do something and mess it up, and THEN see when I actually accomplish something good enough to share, then you would get a better and clearer picture of life......real life.....here around the Welcoming House.
But in the effort at creating true humility, I would like to actually SHOW YOU, dear reader, one single simple thing I just simply can not do. Are you ready?

Here you are.

Poor thing.

Yes, that was my adorable and destined-for-death mini rose bush that my precious Hubs and three adorable girls gave me for Mother's Day.
It was destined for death from the moment it was put into the grocery cart, and if it had been capable of crawling out on its own willpower once it was told who its new owner would be, I sure it would have run screaming down the aisle.
And if you could have seen the pain on the face of my husband and oldest daughter when I read the tag on mother's day only to see the line: "Meant for indoor use", you would clearly understand just how bad I am at keeping house plants alive. I am quite sure my Handy Hubby was thinking: "well, that was X-amount of bucks right down the drain."
I am REALLY bad with house plants.
SO so bad.

I killed a cactus once.

Seriously.
My skills are that pathetic.

Unless it is herbs, I can not grow it in the house. Or unless it is starting seeds indoors.
But those eventually get moved outside, so they live.
Barely.

There you go. A part of the Welcoming House Author
that you didn't know. :)
Just call me Captain Plant Killer.
Its Okay.

Many Blessings to you and yours,
Heather

  1. It is good to share a bit of ourselves that others do not see. When we open ourselves up in this social medium, we only want to share our good things and the things we can accomplish, so as to encourage others to do it also. To try it at least!

I don't do many things well, and I have learned that it is easy to smile than to answer anything about all that I do in a day :)

Thank you so much for sharing...and your picture is just lovely. It shows a woman that truly loves what she does.

    1. Thanks so much Maria! It IS kinda scary to put yourself out here on a place like an open blog, because you never know who is going to be reading and critiquing! However, I have been blessed to meet and be able to help so many people start something new, or do something different, that I look forward to my comments each day. Many blessings to you and thanks for stopping by! :)
